TEACHING ASSISTANT POSITION IN SARRIà, BARCELONA

Up International Education is looking for a native or near-native English speaker to fill a Teaching Assistant position at a school in the Sarrià area of Barcelona.

Start date: 8 September 2026
End date: 20 June 2027
Working hours: 30 hours per week
Educational stage: Early Years, working with children aged 1 to 5

Role:
The position focuses on English-language immersion for children aged 1 to 5. The Teaching Assistant will work with children aged 3 to 5 in the mornings and with children aged 1 to 2 in the afternoons. They will work alongside the main teacher, plan activities involving stories, songs and games, collaborate with the English Department and actively assist with the children’s daily care. This will include feeding, hygiene, changing nappies, toilet assistance and providing emotional support when needed.

Candidate profile:
We are looking for a native or near-native English speaker with an interest in education, strong communication skills, flexibility, responsibility and motivation to work with young children.

Requirements:
Candidates must hold a European passport or a valid residence and work permit for Spain. Previous experience working with preschool-aged children and toddlers will be highly valued.

Contract and salary:
The monthly gross salary is €1,107.26. The first six months will be covered by a temporary employment contract. After this period, the contract will become a part-time permanent seasonal contract for 30 hours per week. The contract may continue from one academic year to the next, although the employee will only work during the designated school-year employment period.

Support provided:
Personal and administrative guidance will be provided throughout the programme, including assistance with documentation, the accommodation search and adaptation to the school placement.
