Typical jobs

Hotel and restaurant work on the coasts and islands. Resort entertainment and activity staff. Summer camp monitors and English-language camp staff. Lifeguards. Water sports and diving instruction. Retail in tourist areas. Agricultural harvest work, which follows its own regional calendar.

What it pays

Set by the relevant sector convenio. Accommodation is sometimes included in island and resort roles, which changes the economics substantially — establish whether it is, and whether it is deducted.

Requirements and qualifications

Availability for the whole season is what employers care about most. Languages matter in customer-facing roles. Some roles need specific certification: lifeguarding, diving instruction, camp monitor qualifications.

Who is hiring

Resort and hotel groups in the Balearics, Canaries, Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca. Summer camp operators, including English-immersion camps that recruit native speakers. Activity and water sports centres. Agricultural cooperatives.

Contracts and conditions

Hiring peaks between February and April for a season starting at Easter or in June. Fijo discontinuo contracts give you recall rights for the following season and are worth more than a plain temporary contract — if you intend to come back, ask which one you are being offered.
