Typical jobs
Inbound support by phone, email and chat for a specific language market. Technical support. Order management and back office. Content moderation. Inside sales and lead qualification. Team leader and quality roles for people who stay.
What it pays
Generally near the lower end of the market, with language allowances for scarcer languages — Dutch, Nordic languages and German typically pay a premium over English. Shift and weekend supplements are common. Some roles include performance bonuses that the advertised figure may or may not include.
Requirements and qualifications
Fluency in the target language is the main requirement and frequently the only hard one. Spanish is usually not needed. Employers in this sector are experienced at hiring people who have just arrived, and some offer relocation support.
Who is hiring
Large outsourcing companies with sites in Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga and Valencia. In-house service centres run by international corporates. Technology companies running their own support operations.
Contracts and conditions
Permanent and long fixed-term contracts are both common. Shift work including evenings and weekends is normal. This sector has high turnover, which is why it hires continuously — and why internal promotion happens quickly for people who stay.
